Letter for a Goddess

Dear G.,

I don’t think we know each other as well as we could, but you have definitely made some major contributions in my life. I’d think that was totally crazy if you weren’t a complete and total goddess. And that’s what goddesses do, right? They create opportunities. They give more light and love in the world simply by being themselves.

And that’s exactly what you do.

You are hands-down the most beautiful person I know. Inside and out. You radiate beauty. I don’t know how else to describe the energy that surrounds you except that it’s utterly mesmerizing. I feel like you contain the secrets of the Universe inside you. Like you have a direct line to a higher plane of thought and being. You’re incredibly wise, compassionate, understanding, calming, and peaceful. We don’t see each other a lot, but when we do, I feel like I’ve known you forever. I find myself opening up to you in ways I’m normally reluctant to. You’re just one of those people. I know you’d never judge. You’d only love.

Am I idolizing you too much? Probably, but it doesn’t feel like it. You’ve done so much for me without even trying. Because of you, I now have four incredible people in my life. Because of you, I have a job that doesn’t take away my soul, my sense of purpose and meaning in life, and instead adds to it. Because of you, I have been able to create a life for myself that I am proud of.

I don’t think you know how much you mean to me. I hope this letter helps. I’m still learning how to express my feelings in person as coherently as I do on a page. So I apologize if my adoration and respect and gratitude for you has not translated as much while we’re face to face.

But you are the definition of a goddess to me. I stand in awe of you every time you speak, and especially when you write. You are an amazing writer, and I hope you never stop. I hope the world gets to read what you write because you could change the world with your words. You already do.

One day soon, I hope we get the chance to trade our stories. The whole, unadultered true stories of our lives as well as the ones we’ve written. But until then, know that I am forever grateful for every opportunity and kindess you’ve given me, and I completely admire your spirit. You are someone I know will change the world someday, and I believe in you wholeheartedly.

You are a goddess! No doubt. And I’m so glad to have you in my life.

With love,

Kayla
