Adulting on Halloween

Happy Halloween!

Today is the day we all get to dress up and act like idiots. Halloween is the holiday of reckless behavior.

Obviously, I’m not a Halloween person.

Last year, I spent the holiday attending a concert with one of my good friends. It was probably the best concert I have ever been to, and I had a really amazing time. I didn’t dress up. In fact, I forgot it was a holiday completely until we left the concert and entered a sea of costumes and holiday traffic (YUCK).

This year, I’m spending the holiday with my roommates. We have plans to sit outside our rental house and hand out candy. We’ll enjoy conversation over homemade mixed drinks or glasses of wine, and give the largest candy bars to the kids with the most interesting costumes.

I think it’s time to admit that I’m officially a boring-ass adult.

But I’m happy with that.

I wouldn’t want to be anything else.

But whether or not you'll be adulting on Halloween like me this year or having a wild night you won't remember tomorrow, enjoy yourself. Halloween was originally intended as a celebration of the dead.

As morbid as it sounds, honor the death that's coming for us all by living your life to it's fullest expression today.

Have a happy Halloween.
