May 2023 Theme Update

New Theme for May 2023: may is for mothers

It’s difficult to believe that it’s almost been five years since I became a mother. The years have passed by so quickly… and yet the days have seemed to drag on forever.

Motherhood, for me, has been a mess of contradictions. It is both the easiest and the hardest thing I have ever done; my greatest purpose and my biggest regret; and the most rewarding and most restricting experience of my life.

Motherhood is complicated.

Which is why this month will be devoted entirely to the topic of motherhood and will feature submissions that include:

  • Fiction with characters experiencing the highs and lows of motherhood

  • Poetry about the experiences of motherhood

  • Nonfiction that offers advice, or personal narratives of motherhood

  • Reviews of media that cause us to reflect on the concept of motherhood

If you’re a mother and have an experience you’d like to share, this is your time to shine!
